Inspection Codes
Inspection Codes and code books are often derived from specific international, federal, or state fire prevention codes or requirements which can include:
-
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1
-
NFPA 101
-
International Fire Council (IFC)
-
New York Fire Code
-
California Fire Code
ZOLL Fire Reports allows you to create custom codes, and, if you have purchased a license for them, import National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Fire and Life Safety code books.
Creating custom codes
-
In the left navigation of ZOLL Fire Reports, click FIRE Admin, select Fire Inspection in the 'Select a Module' drop-down, click on the Inspection Codes tab and you will see a list of all your existing codes in the 'Inspection Code Lists - Custom' section at the bottom. Clicking on an existing code list item will allow you to make changes. To add a new custom code, click Add New Code List Item.
Note: You must have the 'FIRE Admin - Inspections' security privilege to access the configurations.
-
Enter the required information.
-
Code List Name: Enter the name of the code set or code book that will be used as the reference for inspections, or click the explorer icon
to search for existing Code List Names. Entering a new Code List Name will add it to the list of Code List Names you can search for when adding future code list items. You can select from different Code List Names when creating Inspection Checklists.
-
Violation Code: Enter or select the year of the code set you are using. Code sets are typically updated every other year, so entering a specific year allows you to modify the codes in the future without changing the results of previously completed inspections.
-
Violation Name: Enter the name of the violation for the code list item.
-
Violation Description: Enter the details of the violation code item so your inspectors can easily understand what it is used for.
-
-
Click Save.
Importing NFPA codes
Services that have purchased a license for NFPA code books can import those codes directly into ZOLL Fire Reports. Imported codes are available for use when creating Checklists and for your inspectors to select as violation codes during an inspection.
-
In the left navigation of ZOLL Fire Reports, click FIRE Admin, select Fire Inspection in the 'Select a Module' drop-down, click on the Inspection Codes tab and, if anyone at your Service has already imported NFPA codes, you will see them in the 'Inspection Code Lists from Vendors' section. You can search through the existing NFPA codes using the vendor or code list name and clicking Search.
Note: You will also see all your Service's existing custom codes in the 'Inspection Code Lists - Custom' section at the bottom. Creating custom codes will walk you through adding new custom codes.
-
If your Service's NFPA codes have not been imported or need to be re-imported, click Get NFPA SWISS Code List to import them. This process can take several seconds and will notify you once it is successful.
The message while importing states "Please wait while we fetch data from NFPA Vendor ...This may take about 2 to 10 seconds."
The message upon successful import states "Latest NFPA SWISS Codelist was successfully received."
-
If you are not using any imported codes and wish to remove them from your Service's code list, check the box next to the code(s) in the 'Inspection Code Lists from Vendors' section and click Delete Inspection Code List(s).
Notes:
-
Clicking Get NFPA SWISS Code List will re-import your licensed NFPA code lists and restore any deleted codes.
-
Once you have used a code list item, whether it was selected as a violation during an inspection, or used as an item for a Checklist, you will not be able to delete that code list item. A future update will allow you to retire old code list items.
